And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.
Hebrews 11:6
Dear God, what does “pleasing” you look like? I guess it all comes back to Jesus’s two great commandments: love you with all my heart, mind, soul, and strength and then love my neighbor as myself. That’s the faith you want me to have You want me to worship you. I’ll admit that sometimes it is hard because you aren’t as tangible as other things in my life. My worship is done more in faith that you are there to worship. That it isn’t a waste of my time (or life) to worship you above all things. To dedicate my life to you. To lay down my life, take up your cross and follow you. That you sent Jesus to live, die, and rise again to be my reconciling offering to you. Yes, that is faith. And I do have it. I do worship you.
I wrote yesterday that I have a fundraising dinner tonight. I’m about to sit and complete my thoughts and write them down so I’ll have something to go off of tonight. But I want all of it to be about you. Being your ambassador. Pointing to you. Touching the hearts of those there so they might see you and hunger for you–at least a little.
Father, Jesus, Holy Spirit, speak to me right now. Help me to bring you glory and praise tonight. Be in the evening. I turn loose of my worldly expectations of how the night will go. Perhaps you have a completely different agenda than I have. Please show me how to love you and how to point others to you.
I pray all of this under the authority of the grace you have given me,
Amen
